Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer mentioned his late good friend and bandmate Chris Cornell within the liner notes for his new profession retrospective album.
“Chris held the keys to the doorways of notion for me.
There are so many examples I may share, perhaps sometime I'll, however one good instance I'll NEVER neglect was listening to his demo for the music “Ugly Truth” when Soundgarden was writing songs for Louder Than Love. The tough recording encompassed a musical universe so huge and pure, I couldn’t consider my ears. I listened to it again and again, pinching myself questioning if I used to be in a dream or if I used to be lastly within the band of my desires. Luckily for me, it wasn’t a dream.
The finest artists have a direct hyperlink to their unconscious, their interior universe. They could make sense of the sweetness and darkness in life and current it to the world in a portray, a poem or a music that completely encapsulates how all of us really feel.
Chris was that kind of artist.
His music transcended classes and classification, it was merely subsequent degree artwork. He was my Coltrane, my Kafka, my J.M.W. Turner. I'm perpetually grateful for the time I had with Chris. Our time collectively was very brief, however our music will reside on perpetually.”
