Torres also announced a new batch of North American tour dates.
Torres has announced a new LP for the early weeks of 2020. With Silver Tongue due Jan. 31, the New York-based indie artist dropped the album's latest advance track today (Dec. 3) -- an effervescent love song called "Gracious Day."
Following lead track "Good Scare" (released back in October), "Gracious Day" finds bandleader Mackenzie Scott laying her emotions bare to hold onto a partner.
"My girlfriend was trying to leave me. I basically wrote this song for her from the valley of the shadow of death, desperate that she might give me another chance -- it worked,” Scott said. “I felt like Ebenezer Scrooge after he wakes up on Christmas morning.”
Silver Tongue (available for pre-order here) is the first Torres album completely produced by Scott. It marks her new deal with Merge Records, following an unhappy departure from her previous label. While 2017's Three Futures was critically acclaimed, the album led to a disappointing split with 4AD, which Scott expanded on in an interview with Billboard earlier this year (see above link). She also curated a Pride-themed playlist and explained how she came to sign with Merge.
Find "Gracious Day" below, followed by Torres' upcoming tour dates and the Silver Tongue album art. The North American leg beginning March 26 was also announced today, with additional dates forthcoming.
