Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed during a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. The shocking tragedy was felt throughout the world due to Bryant’s influence on generations on and off the court. Following the awareness of the lyric, Meek quickly became a trending topic. As expected Twitter let loose a lot of smoke onto the Philly rapper.
“The last thing they (Bryant’s family) need is a ‘bar’ to be made out of their loss ring now. Meek Mill always been lame, but this is a new low,” tweeted one fan.
Kobe & Gigi Bryant’s deaths were only a year ago. Their family is still grieving heavily over them. The last thing they need is a “bar” to be made out of their loss right now. Meek Mill always been lame, but this is a new low.

One even called for Meek to stay out of the studio until further notice. Undisputed sports host, Shannon Sharpe, even tweeted his thoughts on the situation as well.

The Dreamchasers CEO caught wind of the backlash and took to Twitter to respond.
somebody promo a narrative and y’all follow it…. y’all internet antics cannot stop me ….shit like zombie land or something!” he started. “They paying to influence y’all now … its almost like mind control wake up.”

While we can give Meek Mill the benefit of the doubt that he intended no malice behind the bar, he must understand the sensitivity behind it. Bryant, his daughter, and the other lives that were lost during the helicopter crash continue to be a tragedy for millions, especially his wife, children, and family. We hope that Meek can learn from this situation as we promote council culture over cancel culture.
