GENIUS Takes Fans ‘Back to the Future’ in New EP

ATL’s GENIUS debuts his newest project, Back To The Future, released through his own RARE Sound/Mixtape Monopoly. The hip-hop mogul returns with a fresh sound inspired by his outlook on this new world we’ve stumbled into. The EP, produced in majority by David Morse (Swae Lee, Mulatto, Lil Pump) is his way of breaking through the confines of feeling trapped by 2020.

Back to the Future is a take on thinking that 2020 would be so far ahead in the future…but it seems like we’re moving backward. I want to go back to the future…back to progressiveness, back to free thought, back to a different 2020 that I imagine. That’s what this project embodies.” – GENIUS

The project also boasts features from the likes of K CAMP, True Story Gee, Miguel Fresco, and Eearz

GENIUS is a Jamaican born & Atlanta raised disc jockey and artist. Over the past few years, GENIUS has evolved as one of the elite music curators in the Atlanta hip hop scene; helping break major artists such as 2 Chainz, Migos, and business partner, K CAMP. In the last five years, the once “underground” club music of Atlanta has exploded into worldwide consciousness. From acts like Gucci Mane, Future, K CAMP, Migos, and Young Thug, in many cases, it was the hands of ”DJ GENIUS” literally at the controls.

Recently, GENIUS and K CAMP were the headline Artists as Entrepreneurs speakers at Music Ally’s Sandbox Summit Global, where they spoke alongside Spotify-backed artist mxmtoon and industry execs such as Troy Carter. The pair have spent the last couple years building their own studio and record label (RARE Sound), distribution company (Monopoly Distribution), and marketing agency (Mixtape Monopoly) where GENIUS serves as head of operations and CEO, respectively. While serving in these roles, GENIUS has also managed to build a music career by independently distributing his own musical work, which has acquired millions of streams and views. Other key signings on Monopoly Distribution include Dallas rising-star BFG Straap, Atlanta comedian DC Young Fly, internet personality Woah Vicky, and Rolling Stone and Red Bull-featured Indian rapper Hanumankind.
