Avril Lavigne Re-Recorded 'Warrior' to Honor 'Heroic' Workers Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Avril Lavigne will be honoring those on the frontlines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The songstress revealed on Tuesday that she re-recorded herĀ Head Above Water track “Warrior” to honor the “heroic” efforts of those whose lives have been changed due to COVID-19.

“Ever since our world was tuned upside down a few weeks ago I’ve seen everyday people put on armor and go into battle. Simple tasks like delivering mail has become a heroic effort,” she wrote in a heartfelt message via Twitter. “Overnight everyone was asked to battle. Overnight everyone became Warriors.”

“To all the hospital workers, postal service people, grocery store workers, police and firemen, every single one of you who has had their world shaken. This is for you,” she concluded.

Lavigne went on to reveal that “We Are Warriors” will drop on Friday (April 24) and the net proceeds will go to Project Hope, “an incredible organization that is on the front lines keeping doctors and medical staff safe all over the world.”

“We Are Warriors” is available for pre-save here. See Lavigne’s announcement below.
