Car Seat Headrest Shares "Nervous Young Inhumans" Video from New 'Twin Fantasy' Release
Car Seat Headrest began as the solo Bandcamp project Will Toledo, but have since blossomed into a full-band affair. As previously reported, Toledo is revisiting one his earlier projects for a new version 2011 Bandcamp release Twin Fantasy, coming out February 16 Matador, and he’s just delivered another taste the fresh take.
Toledo directed the video for “Nervous Young Inhumans” himself, marking his first foray into directing. The clip features split-screen footage that at times finds multiple versions Toledo matching up in sync, and at other times highlights different choreography, explosive light shows and, finally, end credits announcing the arrival Twin Fantasy.
As previously reported, the original recording the album never quite matched Toledo’s expectations for the songs and their subject matter — or, as a new press release puts it, “Will’s first love, rendered in the vivid teenage viscera stolen gin, bruised shins and weird sex, was an event too momentous for the medium assigned to record it.”
In 2017, with a bigger budget, full band (including members Naked Giants) and more time, Toledo created what he finally deems a “finished work.”
In addition to the re-recorded version the album, Car Seat Headrest will also release a remastered version the 2011 album dubbed Twin Fantasy — Mirror to Mirror. That will arrive in CD format as a double album with the 2017 recordings on February 16, then get the double LP treatment for Record Store Day on April 21. A digital version the remastered album will follow.
