The singer died unexpectedly in London

The Craberries vocalist, Dolores O’Riordan, has died at the age 46. Publicist Lindsey Holmes states the singer died in London where she was for a recording session. An immediate cause death hasn’t been released, but she died “suddenly,” according to the rep.

“Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time,” the group writes on its Facebook page.

“Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

The Craberries was formed in Limerick, Ireland and became pop rock superstars in the 1990’s with hits like “Zombie” and “Linger.” The group split in 2003, but reunited yin 2009. Last spring, they celebrated their 25th anniversary by releasing Something Else, an album featuring re-worked renditions their major hits, as well as brand new material.

The band was set to follow the release with a summer tour, but canceled due to O’Riordan’s back pain. More details as they become available.
